I have been singing all my life and gratefully, that's been a long time. Yet,
I've often wondered: "When exactly did I become the hyphenate, singer—songwriter?" Interestingly,
I answered my question with a question. It came in the lyrics of a song I wrote and recorded, "How Long Does
It Take?"
The song was inspired by a friend who noticed a homeless man she often passed by at a freeway exit. One day, she felt
a connection — a connection of concern. She asked, "At what
point did I begin to care about this stranger?" According to "How Long,"
the answer to our ponderings is "in the beat of a heart." Whether songwriting, human compassion, or even romance, it's the same. You just look up one day and you are what
you are; you feel what you feel.
With a few songs under my belt—both completed and in
development—I welcome you to my world of music. I tend to write songs that support a cause, offer inspiration, or celebrate life.
I hope you find comfort here. Listed below are examples,
and I invite you to scroll down to hear three samples.
- “We Believe In Your Dreams”—theme song for use
by organizations or groups that rebuild homes and hope.
- “How Long Does It Take?”—asks and answers the
question of when love is realized.
- “I Always Knew”—wedding song that confirms the
dream of a life time.
- "I Celebrate The Day" (You Were Born)—a birthday song.
- “Where
Were You?”—a plea for help after the promise of steadfast love.
- “All Things In Order”—a lament and response to the purpose
of life.
- “I’ve
Got Dreams To Remember”—John Mayer songwriting submission
about one's call in life.
- “I Can Be Free To Be Me”—jingle
used in an industrial video.
My singing
roots are in the church. I have sung at many weddings, talent shows, and vocal performance classes. With my "day job,"
I've delivered musical clues from incredible venues such as the original Motown recording studios, several Broadway stages,
Harlem’s Apollo Theater, the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist
Church, and the Jeopardy! sound stage. My motto, you ask?
“I can sing Motown to the Messiah!”
My Bay
Heart Music projects include the recording of a CD single entitled, “Promise
To Remember Me.”
The song was written by two award winning composers (Alan Silvestri and Stephen Schwartz) on behalf of children like my son
who live with type 1 diabetes. Proceeds from the recording benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Music
samples of "Promise to Remember Me" can be found on
