"Blessed Assurance"
[Christian Hymn]
Assurance is defined as a “pledge or promise–a declaration that
inspires or is intended to inspire confidence.” It’s not a casual commitment, not a pinky promise. Rather, it
delivers on a certain outcome, especially if it's blessed. The familiar Christian hymn, “Blessed Assurance,” speaks of the ultimate promise: everlasting life.
While serving as Rector of St. James Episcopal Church, Rev. Peter Eaton
wrote of the “little deaths” we face each day. Examples include financial woes, disappointments, and health challenges.
All these things and more are covered under a blessed assurance that allows us to live on.
With the promise we've been assured, it seems right to stay hopeful—grateful
for each new day. With love in our heart and our actions, we demonstrate the power of fulfilled promises. To help inspire
you, I offer my rendition of “Blessed Assurance.”
