Humility is by far easier said than done. We aspire to it; but,
just when we think we have it down, pride slithers in trying to choke it. American minister, A.W. Tozer (1897-1963) put the
struggle in perspective:
The
meek man is not a human mouse
afflicted
with a sense of his own inferiority.
He
has accepted God’s estimate of his own life:
In himself,
nothing; in God everything...
The familiar hymn, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” is most
often sung as a congregational hymn. However, I find comfort in singing it to myself in the middle of a humility challenge.
It gives me the courage to be unimportant. May you likewise be inspired by the words I sing.
–Cheryl Farrell
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine!
Now
hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day be wholly Thine!
